LG’s 3D Game Converter is out for the Optimus 3D

LG has officially launched its exclusive 3D Game Converter, which was announced back in August, and is now available for download for the LG Optimus 3D Smartphone. Included in the first Maintenance Release (MR), the software will be available in Europe beginning this month and will be rolled-out in other regions over the next several weeks.

The 3D Game Converter is the first software engine that allows smartphone users to transform Open GL-based 2D games into 3D with the option to switch back to 2D again at any time. This breakthrough will open more doors for 3D technology by creating a new library of content not currently available to consumers. After installation, users can enjoy 2D games in 3D simply by activating 3D Game Converter application, the only requirement being that the 2D game is based on Open GL and runs in landscape mode. Users can also manually adjust 3D depth and vision settings for the best view. Changing between 3D and 2D is as simple as flicking the 3D Hot Key switch at any time.

Google Earth Crosses 1 billion Downloads

Six years ago, Google Earth came to life as a rich, visual program that brought the world to us in a whole different way than we'd ever known, putting satellite imagery we wanted to see it, right on our computer desktops. Wednesday, the free program — now on our phones and tablets, as well as computers — reached 1 billion downloads.

"We’re proud of our one billion milestone, but we’re even more amazed at the way people have used Google Earth to explore the world," wrote Google Earth and Maps vice president of engineering, Brian McClendon, on Google'sLatLong blog.

At Google's new OneWorldManyStories website, the company has collected stories from people worldwide about how they have used Google Earth "to follow their dreams, discover new and distant places, or make the world a better place," McClendon said.

INDIA unveils $35 Tablet for Students

Union Ministry for Human Resource Development today officially unveiled Aakash Android tablet, which is also known as $35 tablet. This tablet has been developed and manufactured by Datawind in association with IIT Rajasthan and NME-ICT. Aakash is a totally different tablet from which was shown last year and turned out to be a Chinese device.
